Message from Sheriff Jeff Lawless

Dear Lawrence County Citizens

As you are now aware, Lawrence County has its first confirmed case of the Corona / COVD-19 Virus. We hoped this day would never come. We must stay alert and adhere to the advice and rules of our medical professional, our Governor, and our President. Our thoughts and prayers are with this person and their family as they manage through this virus.

A State of Emergency was issued early in this situation by Governor DeWine, our County Commissioner’s, and our Mayor’s so that the public would be alerted to the dangers of this virus and the ways to help prevent its spread. I again ask everyone to please stay home when possible. If it is not necessary to leave your home, please don’t. If you must go out for a necessary reason make sure you are taking all the necessary precautions such as staying at least six feet from another person, limit the amount of time you are in a public place, keep your hands away from your face, and wash your hands frequently and especially after contact with anyone.

The Stay at Home Order issued by the Governor was put into place to help protect us all so please follow this order.

I am always amazed and proud of the citizens of Lawrence County in time of crisis. I have witnessed firsthand the love and helpfulness of our fellow citizens and I am confident that we will all step up once again and do our part to resolve this situation. Please continue to pray that this virus will be defeated quickly.

Stay Safe!
