The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners held their first business meeting of 2025. Below are the key decisions and updates from the meeting:

Administrative Approvals

• The minutes from the January 10, 2025, meeting were corrected and approved.
• Permits for projects related to stream maintenance, bank stabilization, filling and grading, and tile repairs were approved for various locations in the county.
• Budget appropriations and transfers were increased from $50,000 to $75,000, and related financial updates were approved.
• The Certificate of County Auditor confirmed that appropriations do not exceed the Official Estimate of Resources.
• The 2025 Ohio Airport Improvement Program Matching Grant Application was approved, pending Prosecutor review.
• The release of funds for the Pump Station #7 Recommission project was authorized.

Appointments and Contracts

• The First Amendment to the Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Program Grant Agreement for the Macedonia/Hecla Water Project was approved.
• The CEBCO Wellness Grant totaling $8,400 was approved, and Dylan Bentley was appointed as the Wellness Coordinator.
• New hires for the Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) included Barry Blankenship (Maintenance) and Kiplan Cooper (IMW11).

Personnel and Real Estate

• It was decided to move the Treasurer’s Office back to its prior location on the second floor of the county building.

Records and Filing

• The annual summary of statistical records for 2025, provided by the Probate-Juvenile Court Clerk, was received and filed.
• Zoning regulation letters for all townships in Lawrence County were filed with the County Recorder’s Office.

Executive Sessions

• Executive sessions were held to discuss real estate matters, legal contracts, and personnel issues, including hiring, firing, and reprimands.

The meeting adjourned with all roll call votes recorded as unanimous or with noted abstentions where applicable.
