The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners held their 20th business meeting of the year on June 10. Below are the main takeaways:
Administrative Approvals
- Approved corrected meeting minutes from May 27, 2025.
- Approved a mix of new and renewed floodplain permits for residential, commercial, and maintenance projects across the county.

- Approved the new hire of Ayden Harrel as a part-time EMT.

Executive Session

Community Updates
- The Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association (OEFFA) shared initiatives supporting local farmers and their engagement with the landbank.
- Third and Center highlighted their senior center programs and announced their upcoming Summer Solstice celebration with art, music, and a talent show.
- EMS shared 2024 CARES data showing a 43.5% pre-hospital pulse return rate, surpassing the 30% national average.
- Missy Evans introduced the “Impact Prevention Party in the Park.”
- Commissioner Finley reported on the successful SPNYS event.
- Commissioner Holliday announced the “Fill the Freezer” initiative in partnership with the Lawrence Foundation and the County Fair.
- Administrator Dylan Bentley announced the Lawrence County Pickleball Tournament and praised student-athletes who competed at the State Track Meet.

Appointments:
Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association (OEFFA) – Discusses their various programs benefitting farmers as well as getting farmers involved with the landbank. Half of the organization is organic certifiers, and the other half is agricultural education and policy. They help farmers with production, certification, funding and many other items. They are advocates for farmers’ needs and ensure their voices are heard.
Commissioner Finley and Dylan Bentley discuss the use of the landbank to benefit local farmers and get farmers interested in micro farming.
Third and Center – Amanda Clary presented information on Third and Center’s senior center program. They are meeting on Fridays at Briggs Library. She also presented their summer solstice event which entails various activities like first-cast fishing, live music at noon, art and food market, and a talent show. The program focuses on celebrating local talent.
Dave Hamm of EMS – CARES Data came back for 2024, 43.5% of those in pre-cardiac arrest incidents received a pulse back before reaching the hospital. This is above the national average, which is 30%
Missy Evans – Presented the Impact Prevention Party in the Park

Deanna Holliday – Presented the Fill the Freezer event in partnership with Lawrence Foundation and Lawrence County Fair
Dylan Bentley – Announced the Lawrence County Pickleball Tournament. Dylan also commended the local student-athletes who represented the county in the State Track Meet.
PROJECT FIRST IMPRESSION
Project First Impression is a collaboration between the Lawrence County Commissioners and the Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District. This initiative brings together law enforcement, trustees, mayors, officeholders, and citizens to work as one and stop people from illegally dumping and littering throughout the county.
