The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners held its 34th business meeting (45th overall) on September 30, 2025. Here’s a summary of the major actions and discussions from the session:
Administrative Approvals
- The commissioners approved the corrected minutes from the September 23, 2025 meeting.
- Several new and renewed floodplain permits were approved for projects involving filling, grading, stream maintenance, and bridge stabilization across various county and township roads.
- Appropriations and transfers under $75,000 were approved as submitted by County Administrator Dylan Bentley.
- A transfer of $520,000 was approved from K00-12A-061-000 to N54-12A-157-061.
- The Airport Security Procedures Manual and Airport Emergency Plan were officially approved.
Personnel Actions
- Approved personnel updates within county departments, including:
- Timothy McMaster – Full-Time EMT changed to Part-Time EMT
- Jeremy McClintic – Terminated (Full-Time Paramedic)
- James Ellison – Terminated (Full-Time EMT)
- Logan Calder – Resigned effective September 29, 2025
- Elisha Smith was hired as a new Child Protective Services Investigator for the Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS).

- The board received and filed the August 2025 DJFS Monthly Report.
- The commissioners approved and signed the Secondary Manufacturers National Opioid Settlement agreements.
- A Management Representation Letter was signed for Millhuff-Stang.
- Renewal documents for voluntary dental insurance rates for 2026 were signed.
Community and Development Support
- The board authorized County Administrator Dylan Bentley to send a letter to the Community Action Organization (CAO) in support of the Lock 27 project under the Appalachian Community Grant Program (ACGP). The board also confirmed financial support for the project’s needs.
Executive Session
- The commissioners entered executive session with Dylan Bentley and Rick Jansen to discuss legal contracts. No public action was reported following the session.
The meeting concluded with unanimous roll call votes and adjournment by Commissioner Copley.
