EMA Press Release: State Tells Businesses to Screen Employees
March 21, 2020
Business/Employer Partners,
To help protect the public against the spread of COVID-19, Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, M.D., MPH, strongly recommend that all employers screen employees each day before work. Information and guidance for doing so are outlined in this attachment: Screening Employees for COVID-19.
Governor DeWine has ordered the relaxing of some unemployment compensation requirements and timelines for COVID-19 affected workers who do not receive paid leave and for people who have been quarantined due to COVID-19. Go to https://unemployment.ohio.gov/ for more information. In addition, Ohio has qualified for the Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loan program for small businesses and non-profit organizations. Details are outlined in this attachment: Protecting Against COVID-19.
Lastly, Dr. Acton strongly recommends a checklist of actions that businesses/employers can take to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 among their employees. These actions are outlined in the second attachment.
